World's ending. Today. Just so you know.
Saturday, May 21st, 2011 09:21 amIt's morons like this that discredit Christians and Christianity.
I mean, SRSLY. Okay, don't get me wrong: I'm Christian. But this guy is an idiot. It's like something went wrong in his studies because what he's saying COMPLETELY contradicts the Bible. First of all, no man or angel knows the day nor the hour that Jesus will come again. Not even Jesus knows. Only God knows and Jesus is just kickin back waiting for the word to go to town. Well, actually he sits at the right hand of God constantly interceding on our behalf, but that's not the point.
There is no secret code. And no God has not given humans the ability to decern some secret code we weren't able to decern before. And his math is stupid. I mean, REALLY. And what is he going to say when the world DOESN'T end? Last time he did this, he said he didn't pay enough attention to Jeremiah, which was were the flaw in his math was. No, his flaw is that he's trying to out-think God.
The Bible says that the rapture will come like a theif in the night, that there will be two in the field and the one will turn to find the other gone. Two in the bed, one will be gone. People will be going about their daily lives when people next to them vanish. Babies will vanish from hospitals and nurseries all over the world. Granted, I know this is hard to fathom, and sounds just as outrageous as his claims, but according to that Bible he's thumping THIS is the the way the Rapture will go down.
And it isn't up to God whether or not you get saved when that time comes. I mean, it is but it isn't. The Bible says there is ONE way to be saved: it's simple, painless, and doesn't require a monetary donation.
John 14:6 says " Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. "
And then (Romans 10:9-11). “For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved”
God is not a God of condemnation, he loves us even though this world and the people on it are so very screwed up. I may have offended like EVERYONE on my FL, but unfortunately, I don't apologize for it. Jesus was the most offensive man to ever walk the planet, Christians still seem to have a knack for it even today. The intolerance of a tolerant world, I suppose. If you have any questions or comments, have at it. If you would like to talk more privately, PM me. I do ask that you be respectful, even if you don't agree.

Date: 2011-05-23 07:38 pm (UTC)It makes me feel better to think of getting back into touch with my Christianity. I asked Mum to take me to church next Sunday. I also spent today shifting between relaxing online and relaxing on the sofa (with the Christian Radio station on in the background the whole time). So your advice of doing those things made me feel better- like I was on the right track. I quite like the music actually. ^^
This morning I woke up and went downstairs. Mum's "psalms and new testament" bible was right there, sitting on the kitchen counter. Kind of staring me in the face. The book details "30 selective readings" you can read before doing their "short one reading per day" sessions. According to the book, it you follow their yearly (one per day) suggestions you'll get through the whole new testament Bible comfortably in a year or two, or something like that. Depending on how much you read per day. It'll be interesting to be sure.
The first selective reading sugegstion was John 1:1-18. I don't pretend to know the chapters at all, so I had no idea what it would be about. It was about Jesus' preaching up until he was arrested. I found it to be easy reading for the most part, and there were many positive things I took from it. My Mother says that not all of the Bible is comforting or agreeable, but this was something good to start with.
As for him walking with me all the time... I still have a book from before I fell our with Christianity. It's called "Footsteps" if you know it? Well, it's a good book. Might give that a look later. It is comforting. ^^
Thanks again for your help and understanding. I don't think there are any youth groups in my area, but I suffer from severe anxieties and social awkuardness, so I'll probably go to church as a first step. ^___^ Haven't been in a looooooong time. ^w^

Date: 2011-05-23 10:19 pm (UTC)Also, if there is a used book store in your are, you can always browse their christian books section. It's where I got my 'everyday' bible from. I like it, it's not in order at all, as you will read small sections from various books every day, and then there's always a prayer for you to pray at the end that ties in with what you read, and a 'further study' in case something you read intruiged you or left you with questions. If you don't have a used book store.... AMAZON.COM BABY! <-they have everything. And are very 3V!L for it. lol for l33t speak.

Date: 2011-05-23 10:22 pm (UTC)Yes, looking through the Footsteps book, it also has tonnes of other poems and prayers in it. I've got two sources to go by. Mum gave me the Footsteps book. =D
Now we're going to church on Thursday, because it's quieter then apparently. ;)
